Pink Antique Quilt Ring Pillow

From Something Old comes Something New

Collecting the elements of this charming ring pillow was a walk through time. The quilt square is hand-stitched piece from the late 1800/early 1900s, found in an antique store in Red Hook, NY. The keyhole came from an early 1800s carriage house in Brookline, MA. The vintage trim decorating the sides was handed down to me from an in-law. The tie for your rings---that I found in the bottom of my grandmother's sewing chest.

I tea stained the heavy cotton backing and the ties. And to honor the seamstress who came before me, piecing together that beautiful quilt square, I chose to hand stitch everything else myself--the trim, the fabrics---everything. It is filled with a high quality environmentally friendly stuffing.

Measures about 6.5" square and 1.5" tall.

Blue Antique Quilt Ring Pillow

Something Borrowed, Something Blue

This pillow features another hand-stitiched quilt square from the late 1800/early 1900s, found in an antique store in Red Hook, NY. I discovered the hand crocheted lace trim there, as well. The vintage keyhole was scavenged to great effect.

I tea stained the blue silk backing. And, again, to honor the seamstress who came before me,I chose to hand stitch everything else. It is filled with a high quality environmentally friendly stuffing.

Measures about 6" square. Including the lace, it is about 9" square.
