Pink Stripe Felted Gauntlets

There are lots of happy accidents in the studio. Sometimes, there is a happy accident in the laundry room. I first started making these gauntlets when one of my sweaters accidentally went through the wash. The sleeves felted so beautifully, I made them into arm warmers. I love them and wear them all the time. So I made more!

This pair of fingerless gloves are the wool sleeves rescued from an upcycled Garnet Hill sweater. I felted them in hot soapy water to secure all the fibers and then cut the hem and thumb hole. I hemmed the upper cuff, but left the thumb hole unfinished to minimize bulk. The extra long length allows for a relaxed slouchy feel, and the extra width at the top allows them to be pulled up over sweaters and coats for extra warmth, if needed. Wear them for warmth or fashion. Both generally suit me.

Measurements: Approx 14" long. About 6" wide at the top, tapering to 3.5".
