Antique Carpet CoastersI love old rugs. The patina. The wear. The frayed edges. All of it. When I am out at the flea markets, I seek out the tattered and worn beyond repair. There is always more life in them, whether it is as a bag or pillow. I'm always looking for ways to use up my littlest of pieces, too. And these small remnants became this set of coasters. I wanted these pieces to have a primitive look to highlight all the life they've seen. After cutting out each four inch square section I stabilized the pieces and fused them to the backing upholstery material. This way, they will fray slightly more at the edges, but the body of the pieces--worn sections and all--will stay intact. To add to that folk primitive look, I hand stitched each around the edges. These are perfect for the bohemian, old world decor and make a great hostess or housewarming gift. Set of four, 4" square. Recommended Care: Shake or vacuum out the crumbs.
