Antique Die Cutting BlockWe adore antiquing and treasure hunting and this is just a great piece we picked up from a gentleman who salvaged it from an old shoe factory in Haverhill, MA about 30 yrs ago. We suspect it dates to the turn of the 20th century at the earliest and mid-century at the latest, but who's to say? What we do know is that it has a striking character and would make the perfect addition to a variety of home decor styles: steampunk, industrial, modern, farmhouse, shabby chic. You name it. This piece lends itself beautifully to serve as your coffee table, but also, if you're the handy type, add some sturdy legs to use it as a sideboard or hall table.Overall Measurements (not including the protruding nuts and bolts): 36" l, 22 1/4" w, 15 1/2" t. It's very heavy. Materials and Construction: A combination of a wood bottom and some sort of composite material for the top cutting surface. Both are assembled in the butcherblock style. Iron fittings. Condition: It has lived a full and well worn life, and I only hope to look as good as it does when I meet its age. It was a working piece, and you can still see the outlines of the patterns they used to punch on it in its surface. Some nicks. Some dings. Many signs of it fulfilling its life and purpose. The second image shows some damage to its cutting surface with indications of a more modern attempt at repairs. To purchase, please send me a note. $650 |
