This eloquently simple version of the Maine State Flag, was the first official flag of the state from 1901-1909. It has long been on my list of projects to undertake, but never quite made it to the top of the list. As fate would have it, a recent storm that left us without internet or power for a couple of days (not too uncommon in our part of Maine) rearranged my work flow and this gem of a project rose to the top.
I hooked this pillow with a combination of recycled cashmere and wool. The parchment colored background is created with a variety of dyes, both natural and low impact traditional types.
This is a petite pillow that still captures the vastness of the state. Measures just 8″ x 12″.
Backed with plaid wool.
