This simple rendering of a lobster boat emerged on a sticky note as I doodled while on hold on the phone. It’s not elaborate, but it captures the coastal nature of our hometown here in Maine and immediately transports me to the seaside with the gentle “glug, glug” of our local lobster boats. Prompted by a request of a client to incorporate “Maine” into the design, through discussion it evolved into ME1820 mimicking a boat’s registration and giving a nod to 1820, Maine’s founding year.
Hooked with wool and cashmere on a linen foundation. Backed with European homespun, which may vary from the one shown.
Measures about 12″ x 17″.
